Marble carving's furthest point: five temples whose ceilings, cusped toranas and lotus pendants are cut to translucency — artisans, the account goes, were paid by the weight of marble dust they removed. Built by ministers of the Solanki court, they remain fully active Jain tirthas beside their fame as monuments.
