Indrakeeladri, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh · 16.5175°, 80.6106°
Andhra's principal Devi shrine, on Indrakeeladri hill over the Krishna river; the goddess here is swayambhu (self-manifested) and the Dasara Navaratri utsavams draw lakhs for teppotsavam float festivals on the river.
On this hill Arjuna performed penance for Shiva and won the Pashupatastra after wrestling the god disguised as a hunter — the Kiratarjuniya episode; Durga, having slain Mahishasura, chose the hill as her golden (kanaka) abode.
