The Salt Range's sacred pond ringed by the Satgraha temple cluster — the most important living Hindu site in Pakistani Punjab, restored in the 2000s and visited by pilgrimage delegations from India. Al-Biruni is associated with studying Sanskrit and Indian sciences in this region while writing his Kitab-ul-Hind; Pakistan's Supreme Court intervened in 2017 to protect the drying pond from nearby industry.
When Sati died, two tears fell from Shiva's eyes: one became the pool of Pushkar, the other Katas — Kataksha, 'raining eyes'. The Pandavas are said to have passed exile years here, and by the pond Yudhishthira answered the Yaksha's riddles to revive his brothers.
